The Kerrie Pot ...

I invited my Family over for supper last night ,9 April 2015 at our new flat and decided to make a curry as I know its something my whole family would eat. I was thrilled to take the time out and show my appreciation for all the effort and time they have had towards my life ...

Like all good stories mine starts with a pot , the fact that i never had a big enough pot to cook for the whole family ... And because I work in the events and catering industry my work has relatively big post ,I Lie they have huge pots , I borrowed a pot that i thought would work only to find one of our staff member (being Muslim) Telling me to get a bigger pot with a better base, she eventually chose the pot for me , im quite good at making curry but when she heard i was making curry and got asked a million questions , like where am i getting my spices from , how am I going to make it ... So i explained to her id just go to pick n pay to get some usual curry spices .... Aunty Gigi was not impressed with me and insited on me ordering my spices through work and getting a driver to go fetch them in the Bo Kaap , she made me a list as well and a very brief description of how to make my curry .. Later in the day I was working by the accounts section at work and The accountant asked me what were my spices for i explained that I was inviting my family over supper and i was going to make supper , Coming from an Indian background she gave me her explanation of how to make curry .

That night i decided to take a bit of everyones advice and made a heartily Indian , Cape malay curry ,which to my surprise turned out completely different to how i would usually make it , Although the curry was not strong you could taste the flavors of all the spices ,everyone enjoyed it which i was super glad about.

Word of advice when working in the food industry ,if you're planning to cook supper be prepared for 1000 questions , and 2000 ways to actually make your home cooked meal ... The effort and advice really does go a long way.

Moving and everything in between...

Moving day has ALMOST arrived , in exactly 7 days Roxy and myself are moving to the Southern Suburbs ,Pinelands to be exact .. moving while working is another mission ... but I am very excited to move closer to work and not have to wake up at 5 in the morning just to be at work on time .. MORE NAPS MORE OFTEN.....

Soo i thought why not keep you updated on the ''big move''  Roxy has moved out of her parents house before so she has a lot more to move than I do , she basically has everything a house needs...I mean everything which is awesome as we will be saving some major costs...

Whats left for me to pack?

Work ,moving out and SO much feelings

When lyrics in the past were stupid and you thought how meaningless , like Katy Perrys lyrics , like a plastic bag drifting through the wind  pfft...? Which makes so much sense to me now and the waves of emotions I have been going through lately , I think I know what it feels like to be that plastic bag , paper thin ,somewhat meaningless , floating , nothing can really hurt you anymore , your'e moving in a direction ,but you don't know how things will end up ,That plastic bag is something not many notice its there but no-one really pays attention,plastic being one of the items that you cant  really recycle , it will always be in the environment just in another form of something.

This year has been one of the most challenging years of my life so far , I've had to make decisions that went against everyone else' happiness , but was the best for my own happiness  .. The only thing about making decision to make yourself happy is you end up hurting people along the way , you end up in fights with parents (Ugly ones) ,Your relationship with your better half will put you to the test 99% of the time , Your idea of happiness will confuse you ,but what your'e passionate about will always be the way your heart wants you to go .

I put my big girl boots on and I can tell you its beginning to get harder not to stumble , fall and cry . Although all that being said , I have many positives that will help me in my future career, I have gained so much experience in the industry I have studied to be in and it really is ,despite all the long hours and hard work .what makes me happy .


MOVING DAY :my very first time moving out of my parents house and its happening next month , Following my passion has driven me to complete insanity , working about 7 days a week and waking up every morning at 5am  to be in Observatory on time for work and then leaving at 6;40pm to miss traffic , therefore the groot trek is happening next month 1st April 2015 / 21 days left and counting ! Pinelands here Roxanne and myself come.

BUT for now i just hope i become a glass bottle , this whole feeling like a plastic bag thing is not going down well with my soul , At least if I am a glass bottle I'll be useful , shiny and I can be recycled into something better..

Valentines Day ...?

Ahhh Valentines day , I do not know how much I believe in this myth as I believe if you love someone you should use every given opportunity to let them know. On another note I decided to blog about Valentines Day ,because I met someone at my sisters work the other day and we were having a chat about cars...When he looked at me surprised and told me so your boyfriend should not buy you flowers for valentines day but he should show up at your house with a car seat or something ... when I  realised I like flowers they are pretty , the thought is cute but they do die unless you going to buy me flowers that i can plant in a garden then i really appreciate it , i like flowers to grow and not to die in a vase ... hahaha  ..., And if Keenen had to show up at my door with a CAR SEAT ,or something simple for my car I would literally tackle him with hugs and love DONT worry babe I REALLY REALLY do not expect a car seat hahahhaha  ... So yes I might not be the completely girly girl ,I have my rough edges ...I prefer a braai with friends then a packed club with people you hardly know I Prefer spending an afternoon in a nature reserve than going shopping , I prefer simple things .... And Keenen and myself have seemed to have gotten this really chilled vibe going. ,Keenen has really become my better half ,best friend and the person I honestly can be whole heartily be myself around .

So no Keenen and myself do not have plans for Valentines day , I think we are going to go with the flow ...because I do not feel like being surrounded by all these people in love that come together on one day ;/ so to give you an idea of what I think we will do is most probably get Nandos ,or Pizza or both because we like eating .. and sitting somewhere quiet in a park enjoying our food before we take a random road trip to who knows where and find our next location .. This to me is perfection ... no plans but i know we will both have a nice day with lots of boring jokes and making fun of each other all day ... If we had a video camera in the car when we go on road trips I am sure everyone would have the fattest laugh at our conversations. 

No im not looking forward to Valentines day ;o only because every day I see Keenen is more exiting than waiting for the one day a year everyone celebrates their love for one another ....

Its been a while , maybe a while too long since I've put my thoughts to words on my Blog.

I have started doing my internship at a Catering and event management company located in Observatory from the 1st of October 2014 ,and so far have been loving every minute of it.

This post will mainly be about work , exams and adjustments ...anddd planning my 21st Birthday.

I have had great fun at the company i am interning at as the people here are lovely and all like a big family .. The first few weeks i was taught how to use their online catering software to be able to put quotes together and update their inventory and their menu prices , this has actually taught me a lot about what mark up needs to be put on prices and how much things actually cost.

On friday the 19th of October I was appointed as an assistant supervisor for an Old Mutual-wildlands event and worked a 14 hour shift. I had so much fun in that moment , being completely in my element.

Ive been back in the office this week where i have been helping the logistics manager with a few things in her section, the most lovely person i have met in a long time with such a nice heart .

Im looking forward to coming to visit and just chat to the staff once Ive completed my internship at the end of November

Highlights of working thus far

>  Being an assistant supervisor for an Old Mutual function
>  working with amazing people
>  staying in Pinelands in the week
>  getting most weekends off
>  Working with an awesome friend whom i know since high school


So between all of this i have been planning my 21st , actually in essence i planned my whole 21st in one day , this says a lot about the industry I'm going to be working in...

So basically it doesn't feel like my Birthday and i would have preferred not to do anything as i feel my Dad has given me enough in this life time ,but he has insisted on me having at least something it could be anything ,however i wanted it , whoever i wanted to invite ,just as long as i have something . With all that being said I planned the most cost efficient birthday party i could've thought of with hardly any formalities and i have just invited people who have been there for me through everything , As i believe its pointless to invite people just to fill a party but rather to have people that has had an influence on your life.

I have hardly been working in this industry but I have gotten so much items sponsored and I'm truly grateful to have people in my life that can offer so much for me including my current workplace.

 OH YESS and i passed all my final exams ,which means not a single rewrite since I started studying :) whoop whoooppp

All the happenings of life

Helloooo everyone , it's been quiet a while since I've been here almost two months already , with the planning of our fun run in full spring , life has been quiet hectic and the fact that knowing I have only four weeks of class left ...it's insane ... So exciting times lie ahead in the next year I have decided to take a Gap year and travel a bit and then the next year get my degree in event management  

My family and I are going to Ireland for my cousin Simone's wedding next year and a few months after that I'm going to travel Europe for a month I got the okay from my dad last week so I'm pretty excited about that .

Random things that have happened : today i sat in traffic for and hour ! 

> I bought my dog a handsome collar and a dog chain with his name and my number on :) 

> I am ,  at this very moment babysitting my three year old cousin , who has the nicest manners and the funniest sayings 

> today I recieved an exteemly early 21st gift from my mom :D 

> Melissa my best friend has decide to make my spring ball dress for me :D obviously I'm going to pay her for her talentedness.
